Tricking is a training discipline that combines kicks from martial arts, especially taekwondo, with flips from gymnastics as well as other art forms such as breakdancing. It aims to achieve aesthetic combinations of moves focusing on flow, power and originality
The actual sport of tricking is an internet phenomenon, emerging in the early 2000s. With the rise of YouTube, trickers were able to share their videos with others, and the discipline experienced a massive rise in popularity and interest.
Practitioners tend to start their training with basic kicks and acrobatics, to then move to more advanced tricks. However, how difficult a trick is, varies from person to person due to one's background in sports and body type.
Trickers can be divided into different categories of style: some prefer to focus on martial arts kicks, others focus mostly on freestyle gymnastics. Ideally, someone trains both style in parallel to build more variety in their combos.
